WOYWW - One of those days.

Have you ever had one of those days when absolutely NOTHING seems to go right? I am having one of those today. My card reader is refusing to upload photo's to my computer. So sorry girls, no desk today.
I am supposed to be showing you pictures of my desk for WOYWW (go to Julia's blog at http://stamping-ground.blogspot.com if you want to know more) no picture of that, but happy to report my desk is still pretty neat, in spite of being super busy creating. I was making my birdcage swap and invitations for a 9 year old who is coming for a scrapbooking party in my studio on the 7th October, still working on those wedding invitations (bride and groom are still having issues about the wording, SIGH!) and I am making invitations for both my granddaughter's parties.

This was the starting point for my bird cage swap. (go to Frankie's blog at http://dragon-dragonsweb.blogspot.com to see more about it.) I took part in an ATC swap a while ago and we were originally supposed to make 20 ATC's. It turned out to be only 10 in the end, so I had this ATC lying around and decided to use it as a starting point. I will post more photo's of the final product as soon as I am able to upload to my computer.

My breathing has also been dreadful. I can hardly walk 10 paces before I am wheezing like somebody at death's door. VERY frustrating. A year ago this time, I was hospitalised with acute pneumonia, so it seems that it could be the amount of dust and pollen in the air at this time of the year that is affecting my lungs. It is windy season here after all and I live in a mining town where the dust from the mine dumps are blown about all the time.

I am also drowning in school work, its nearing the end of the year and there is so much to do. The newly elected leaders at our school are also very busy with 8 functions that they have to attend and organise in the last two weeks of September.

I am, as most of you know, very proudly African (SOUTH AFRICAN) and it really gets my back up when fellow South Africans run the country down. I would so much rather be part of the solution, than part of the nay sayers, but just sometimes, when I read the papers and see the newspaper headlines, I want to hang my head in shame and weep for our beautiful country.

How? HOW? How does somebody ( a taxi driver) run over a woman and drag her 700 meters under his speeding taxi, refusing to stop even though the people in the taxi are begging him to and bystanders are screaming at him? How does the youth leader of the ruling party get told by the court that it is hate speech to sing a song with words like "Kill the Boer" and then want to appeal the ruling?

If you have made it this far, I am sorry, can you tell I am having a bad day? Rant is over, I feeel better now, tomorrow I will be my chirpy positive self again and the card reader will propably work again. If not, I will just get a new one and show you all my finished bird cage.

Untill then have a great time.

  3. Oh dear.....I need to share some of my wine with you! I often wonder what makes people tick? Don't hang your head....be proud. There are always going to be people who stand out for whatever reason. They are not the majority and most people with a good head on their shoulders know that. Your bird cage is lovely by the way! Hope your thoughts tomorrow are not on people who don't deserve the time of day. :D

  6. Oh yes, I know those days - and the good thing is that they're often followed by better days. I can understand your feelings about your country. I'm not even a citizen of the country I live in (USA), but I love this beautiful country and it makes me sad what people make out of it at the moment... I hope your breathing gets easier, living in a mine town certainly doesn't help in this aspect... your birdcage is wonderful!

  10. Aww Tertia, You’re right to feel proud of your country as I do of mine and I like you felt despair recently when we had the riots in London. Such behaviour by a mindless few can make you feel ashamed to be British but just watching the news when I’ve been on holiday in other countries makes you realise that those places have all the same problems that we have, so don’t apologies for having a rant, it’s your right to.

It’s a shame we can’t see your desk today but I love the tag. you’ve made for your swap

    Happy Crafting!

  11. Ah Tertia, you are feeling blue. It won't help, but I must tell you tha tit is not a SOuth African problem alone - every country has its nay sayers and taxi drivers, believe me. I did the birdcage swap too - and freedom was my jump off point - interesting huh!

  12. Rant all you like. It's not just South Africa. We have the same problem here in the States. We have something called a hate crime that adds additional years to any crime committed. Hope you are feeling better now and happy belated WOYWW.

  13. Hi there Teria - ah so know what you mean about how the nay sayers run down your country feel that way here and then last night when they were talking about a mum and dad who starved their eight year old daughter to death - when finally found by DOCS (dead) she weighed 8 kilos.. so I am with you there. I pray you are having better day today, and that you feel/ are breathing better too! and may God bless our poor dear countries too and their leaders, to be wise leaders,
    love Shaz in Oz.x

  14. Was appalled at why you ranted - no wonder you felt like that - made me angry too. The taxi story is just horrendous - those poor people who saw it as well as the victim - awful!
I have sympathies with your breathing problems as I am a sufferer too. Was, that is, until I had my heart put back into rhythm the other week and now I am improving day by day. Get them to do an ECG if they haven't already, it might throw up the same problem I had.
Thanks for visiting my blog. Hugs, Neet x

  15. Hey there - thank you for visiting my blog :) I do hope you're feeling better, breathing problems really are the pits because it stops you from being able to do things. Neet's comment is interesting, isn't it - maybe worth asking your doc. The case of the miners is so sad. There was an accident in a privately owned mine up the Swansea valley, where 4 out 7 miners were trapped and killed. Sadly one of the survivors knew that his dad was inside and probably dead. Wales used to have mining accidents all the time, but so many mines have closed over the years that people have forgotten about the dangers. It is so sad and has affected all the Welsh people. I'm proud that the rugby team dedicated their win to them. Hugs, LLJ xx
