Sassy Cheryl and an ugly card.

I love the Sassy Cheryl images. This one is the newest freebie. She reminds me of my granddaughter. I coloured her with my Copics and used some glitter on her glasses and jewelery. The gems on her shoes are from the local habby store and the cardstock are some of the paper I had left over from a project. The dp is scraps that I had in my scrapbox, I think it is by Bo Bunny. The photo does not reflect the true colour, it is HOT pink.
Edited to add the link - sorry, guys I forgot. www.sassycheryl.com

Here is a close up of the image. Isn't she adorable?
Now on to my 'ugly'card. I don't know what happened. I love the image, but this card just would not come together. I still think I might pull it apart and start all over. The dp is Basic Grey and cardstock is Bazzil. The image is a freebie I found somewhere and coloured in with my Copics. The ribbon is from my stash and the gemstones and buckle from the local bead shop. The flowers have been in my stash for ever. Any ideas on what to do with it to make it better?

Having a great holiday with all the grandchildren staying over tonight and some of my scrapping friends coming over for a crop tomorrow.

Its holiday!

I'm back from camp. Had a fantastic time with the girls. It always amazes me to watch the girls during the challenges. Such perserverance and braveness. There is very little they won't do in order to support each other.
I started making this card before I left and only got to finish it a little while ago. I used the sketch from Little Paper Shop (http://littlepapershop.blogspot.com/ ) Hope I am not too late to enter the challenge. The papers are from my scrapbox. The ribbon is from my stash. Brads are by Enmarc. The Tilda was stamped image I recieved from a kind blogging friend last year and only coloured recently. I coloured her with my beloved Copics and cut her with my Nestabilities. I still need to get the hang of the Nestabilities - spot the mistake.
I am also entering it for the Creative Card Crew's going Dotty challenge.

The inside, showing all the tags for everybody to sign again.
This box was made a while ago from a template found online (I can't seem to find the link now, so if you know, please let me know so that I can give credit.) I had to adjust the size a bit, because the original size was too small for what I needed, I Love Bugaboo's images and just had to use it for the sick notes that I issue for the girls in my grade. I am a bit strict about the whole thing, so the image and sentiment was perfect!

Cardstock is Bazzil and the image was coloured with Copics. Ribbon is from my stash.
Hopefully I will get some more cards and a few scrapbook pages done during the holidays. I have every intention to post something every day for the next two weeks, lets hope I can stick to it.
Have a wonderful Sunday.

Soccer invitation.

I promise you, its freaky. Every time I need a specific image for a card, I hunt high and low and then I find it at Bugaboo Stamps. Not only do they have the perfect image, it seems to be a freebie too! Why I don't start my search there, I don't know.
With the World Cup being played here in South Africa this year, every boy has 'Soccer fever". A friend's son is turning 9 on the day that the opening match will be played and she asked me to make some soccer invitations for his party. The boys are going to watch the game on a big screen TV that she has hired.
This image is the current freebie at Bugaboo and yet again, its perfect! All papers are Bazzil and the image was coloured with my Copics. (Did you notice the kit is in our National team's colours?) The background paper was embossed with my Cuttlebug.
OK Now I have to go back to marking the last few papers. I am leaving for leadership camp on Tuesday and I really want to enjoy the public holiday tomorrow!

I can't believe its Thursday!!

What happened to this week? It was Monday and then when I blink, its Thursday!!
I know it is silly season at school, but this is ridiculous. I have been buried under piles of marking for the last few days. I went to bed at 4 this morning and will propably have to do the same tonight! Worst is, I can only blame myself. I have been putting it off and now it has finally caught up with me. I thought I had another week to mark, but I forgot that I leave for leadership camp on Tuesday, so my marks will have to be in tomorrow. The only good thing is that I will then be able to relax at camp and enjoy my two week holiday.
I found some nice Flowersoft stamps at Hobby-ex and had to play with them. (Another reason my marking is not done) Isn't she just lovely? The papers are all Bazzil and some scraps from my scrapbox. The flower is Prima and the button and ribbon is from my stash. I coloured her with my Copics. The butterflies were cut out from the dp and stuck with pop dots.
The sentiment is hand written and the label is cut with my Nestability die that I found at Hobby-ex too. I put some Flowersoft on the grass. Hope you can see the texture on the close up photo.
The inside of the card. The stamp set came with some small flowers and a watering can. I made 20 tags for the Birthday club again, they fit into the pocket on the right hand side.

The next card is for the pre school again ( 9 down, 5to go). They need two male cards. I find those really hard. I always want to just put a little flower here or some lace, or some pearls. LOL I am quite happy with this one. The image is a freebie from Rusty Pickle. Coloured with my Copics again. The cardstock was embossed with my Cuttlebug. Cardstock is Bazzil and the dp is some K & co that I still have from long ago. Brads are by Enmarc, a local company and the ribbon is from my stash.
The inside has some tags as usual.
I am really angry about the upcoming Water Polo camp that Anke has to go to. As usual, it is over a long week end, which makes the airline tickets horribly expensive. R4000 to go to Cape Town. She has known for some time that she is writing a test on Friday (tomorrow) and she has applied to the university for an extension. She had to wait till last Friday to hear that she could not get an extension. To make matters even worse, she has to come back very early on Sunday morning because her club is playing in the club finald at 11h00. That meant that she would only really be at the camp for Saturday, a very expensive day trip if you ask me. She mailed her manager immediately to explain the situation and ask if it was at all possible for her to miss the camp. (She has not missed a single camp in 5 years!) The e mail that she got back was shocking, to say the least. It opened with: Anke you are really irritating me!!!! and got worse from there on. I have never seen such an unprofessional e mail in my life, and that from somebody that is supposed to be the manager of the National team.
Anke was so upset, that she decided to go just for the one day. Dad and I felt it was a waste of money, but we also fear that if she does not go, it will jeopordise her chances of making the National team. Eventually I bought the ticket on Tuesday night. Yesterday I get a message at school to say that I must call Anke urgently. She informs me that she had just recieved a text message from the coach, saying that she shouldn't come. Not to worry, he will see her at the National club championships in two weeks!
Tried to cancel the tickets, but I can't get my money back. So, now she is going. Her head is not in the right place, I hope she makes the team.
Whether she makes the team or not, I think I should forward all the emails from the manager, some of them even worse than this one, to Swim SA for comment. What do you think? Am I over reacting?

Totally Gorjuss fairy and one for cute card Thursday

I saw the card Paola made for the Totally Gorjuss challenge (http://totallygorjuss.blogspot.com/ ) The sketch looked really wonderful so I thought I would give it a try. I am propably too late, because I have been meaning to upload my card for days now, but life is just getting in the way at the moment.
The fairy is a freebie digi image. Papers are all from My minds eye and Bazzil. Lace is from my stash (more than 20 years old!) ribbon and flowers are from my stash too. I gltterified the roses with stickles. The inside of the card has tags again. I am now nearing the end of the Birthday club cards.
The next card is also from the free fairy coloring site. Papers are Bazzil and Basic Grey. The green paper is some glitter paper I found in my local art store.
The label was cut with Nestabilities. The paper is so beautiful that it didn't need much else. Ribbon and flower is from my stash. This one can be entered at Cute Card Thursday (http://cutecardthursday.blogspot.com/) They are asking for celebration cards
The inside, showing all the tags once again. Both images were coloured with my Copics.

I am frantically trying to finish all my marking because all the marks have to be in next week. I know, I know... if I did less cards and used more of my time marking the kids' work I wouldn't have to spend hours doing it now, but then I would have gone mad a long time ago! LOL
I am busy helping the current grade 11's with the invitations for the matric dance - will I ever learn to say : No, sorry, I am busy? Who am I kidding? I love doing things like this! I will show you as soon as I can. At the moment it is all still a BIG SECRET!

So proud of this girl.

When did it happen? When did my little girl grow up? Yesterday my baby graduated. What an honour to be there and watch her walk on the stage. Three years of very hard work being rewarded.
Wish you could have been there to see the look of utter confusion an her face when she was shown to her seat in the very front row, far away from her friends and classmates. DH asked me what was going on, but I did not have a clue either. After the whole ceremony, when we asked her why she had to sit there, she said that they told her she was a disabled student. She was horrified! We never once told her that Epilepsy was a disability! Well, actually, I never considered it to be a disability. It is just something that we all had to deal with as best we could.
It was the very first time in her life that somebody had ever refered to her as disabled. In fact, most people are usually very shocked when she tells them about her Epilepsy. She has had comments like" "You don't look like somebody with Epilepsy" Duh! What does a person with Epilepsy look like? Usually new coaches (who absolutely has to be informed) look at her with total confusion. "Oh, but are you sure you should be playing then" some of them have said. Comments like those really hurt her, because she works very hard at everything she does. We decided a long time ago that she was going to focus on things she can do, in stead of moaning about things she can't! She has proven to everybody that there is NOTHING a person with Epilepsy can't do.
So proud of you my dear Ankie. This is the first step in achieving your ultimate goal. I have every faith in you that you will achieve that goal too! Love you!

Some more decoupage cards and I was wondering...?

I can not believe it is Friday already! I have one crazy weekend ahead of me, so I really hope I will be able to finish some cards. At least I coloured some images during the week that are all ready to become cards.
The first card is a freebie from Lilac Garden again. A friend at work asked me to make a card for her 6 year old nephew. I love this little train and I find with the decoupage images the cards really don't need a lot of embellishments. Cardstock is Bazzil. The strip that I used as train tracks is Basic Grey and the other paper and brads are from my stash.

This is the inside of the card. Also kept it very simple.
The next card is a smaller version of my disaster fairy. Even though Hannah did not add any glitter this time, I quite liked the look on the flowers of the last one I made.

The image is from Lilac Garden again and cardstock is Bazzil. Everything else came from my stash.
The inside is very simple again. I punched a little fairy from the free background paper with my circle punch and put some Stickles around it.
The next picture is a Fairy that I coloured with my trusty Copics . She is waiting patiently to become a card. Isn't she just adorable? I found her on the Fairy coloring pages site.
This bring me to what I was wondering:
I went to visit Paola last week and we got talking about how much we both LOVE our Copics, but how difficult it is to find them here in South Africa. If any of the South African ladies would like classes on how to colour with Copics and if you would be interested in buying the Sketch markers here, please drop me a line at tertiaj at telkomsa dot net, or send Paola an e mail if you have her address. Otherwise just leave a comment here on my blog. If there is enough interest we will approach the importer and negotiate with him to come to the party and help us make a bigger and more reasonable market for Copics. Please help us spread the word to as many South African crafters as possible!
Hoping to hear from a lot of you!
Have a great weekend.

My disaster fairy and Wendy's digital doodling.

I found this fairy at the Lilac Garden. It is a freebie decoupage print. Although I am not vey good at or overly fond of decoupage, I decided to give it a go. I spent hours cutting everything out and putting the fairy together. Then I glitterified her wings and put some stickles on her dress and jewelery. I left her in my scraproom to dry, quite happy with the outcome. I cut the oval with my Cricut and the card came together very quickly. That is untill Hannah came to visit. She gave the fairy one look and declared that she was the prettiest fairy she had ever seen. I left the room to pour some colddrink and when I came back, she proudly told me that she had put some gltter on the fairy's sandals for me, because "You forgot, ouma!"

Disaster! How can I be angry with my little angel? she was only trying to help. Only problem is, the glitter was everywhere, all over the fairy's lower leg! I really didn't feel like starting from scratch, so out came the flowers. I stuck a big white rose over the foot, but it just didn't look right, so that is when the other flowers came out to play. Very over the top, but everybody seems to like it. Just to save myself more problems, I put some stickles on the flowers too! LOL
The inside has tags.

The next card is one I finished today. I love Wendy's images from Digital doodling. Just as I finished the card and checked out my blogs, I discovered to my horror that Wendy is no longer going to be doodling, because she suffers from Arthritis and it is just becoming too difficult for her. Hop on over there and give her some love. Lets hope that this is not the last we hear of this very talented lady! Papers are My Minds Eye, Bazzil and Imaginisce. Ribbon. lace and bling is from my stash.
This sweet turtle is another one of Wendy's images. Papers are My minds Eye and Bazzil. Ribbon and bling is from my stash again.
The inside showing all the tags I made. I coloured all the images with my Copics. Love those markers!!

Can't believe that my mid term break is over already. Its back to school again tomorrow! At least there is a long weekend at the end of March and it is Hobby-ex this weekend. Hoping to be able to go. Don't know though, because as usual, everything is happening this weekend!
SRC meeting on Friday after school, then Cheerleading practise. Computer training at school on Saturday and much needed shopping with DH on Sunday, so you see, Hobby-ex might just have to wait till next year!
