I am so very late today, and not just for WOYWW either. I was lying in bed this morning, reading my book and planning my WOYWW post when my phone started ringing. It was the chairlady of the school's Student Representative Council. She wanted to know if I was still coming with them for the yearly outing to Gold Reef City (a local amusement park). I told her that I definately would be there at 9, because the park only opens at 10 and it is about 30 minutes drive from the school. She said: "Mevrou, we are all at school already, we were supposed to leave at 7h30.' I nearly died right there and then, told her to give me 20 minutes and went into full scale freak out mode!!! I HATE being late for anything. I think it is just plain rude and disrespectful towards other people, so you can just think how I felt.
It took me a whole 15 minutes to bath, wash and dry my hair and drive to school. The girls luckily had a sense of humour and were very amused to find out their teacher can be human too.
So, thats why I could not post this morning as planned. Some of you might remember that I was 'thrown out' of my craftroom when my DD moved back home in November, well, she has since found a flat near her school and has moved out again, so I get to move back into my craftroom. Yay! I decided that all the missmatched furniture needed a whitewash to make them look the same and the painter finished painting today while I was out. The first picture is of the room that I used while DD was here with all my craft stuff piled on the floor. The next two pictures show my brand new (some of it very old LOL) painted furniture. I can not wait to start moving everything back in tomorrow and maybe I can even start creating by the weekend.
Remember to visit Julia, the queen of the WOYWWers and join in the fun of looking at all the wonderfully talented people the world over's desks.
Have a great week and maybe I will have something more interesting to show next week.
I hate being late for things too. Your room will look lovely with all that white washed furniture. x Jo
ReplyDeleteEk is seker jy kan nie wag om alles weer op hulle plekke te he nie. Ek hoop jy het na al daardie gejaag jou dag geniet.
ReplyDeleteLooking forwards to seeing your new finished craft room. Thanks for sharing and I hope you enjoyed your day out. Hugs Erika.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, I do NOT like being late for anything! Congratulations on getting your space back, and to your dd for getting her own, as well!

Can't wait to see the craftroom all finished. Furniture looks so nice and clean.
ReplyDeleteAnother one here that believes on being on time. As far as your room, it is starting to look nice. The furniture is lovely. dani#33
ReplyDeleteIsn't it great that students somehow think their teachers have superpowers? And how happy they are when they find out we don't? From one teacher to another - it takes superpowers to admit you're human. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy belated WOYWW!

Arrggghhh! I hate that feeling of being late too, but being panicked and late is just the worst! Hope the day got better for you and you had fun. Sorry to shock you even more by mentioning the C word!! Every card I've made this week has been for that big event at the end of the year (seven this week so far), and I don't know why, lol! Glad you're getting your craft room back and such a great idea to get it all together how you want it and not just moving straight back in. Hope it stopped snowing!! Is it still cold?? It's warmer here so you're welcome any time!

ReplyDeleteYour room will look awesome! The stuff you have in there, the organization and stuff will be wonderful with the "new" white stuff!
xxDaniella#24
I don't like being late either, so lucky they had a sense of humour :) You won't know yourself having all that room back again, especially with nicely painted furniture. Just tell DD to stay in her flat. I told my daughter that once she moved out that would be it but it backfired. She won't move out!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.

Blasted Blogger is playing up again today, Tertia, and not letting me see ANY of your photos! I'll kee trying though.
ReplyDeleteI hate days like that too, being terribly late and getting into panic mode. Hope it all worked out OK in the end.
Thanks for your lovely comment - I was amused because you remind me of me (see my description of myself in my blog header lol lol!!) I am soooo easily waylaid!
I'll pop back again later and see if Beastly Blogger is playing ball or not.
Happy belated WOYWW,
Shoshi #10
Success! The pics are up now. The furniture looks GREAT!!! It's amazing what a lick of paint will do, isn't it. I think there's an epidemic of clearing/tidying/revamping craft rooms going on at the moment - maybe it's something to do with the awful weather and the seasons being all haywire, but call it summer cleaning instead of spring cleaning lol?
ReplyDeleteShoshi #10
I do like the white furniture. I giggled with your story about not being late. We always put that added stress on ourselves to not let others down but sometimes we are just "human". The cross in your last post is such a beautiful gift. We are always Totally Accepted by Him.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Lisa
Hi Tertia, what a bad start to the day you had, hope you enjoyed it anyway - it did make me giggle though..... Lovely to get your craft room back again, the white will make it very light and lovely. Thanks for your visit too. Anne x #59
ReplyDeleteI May not be late but I am intermittent due to internet problems. Thanks for stopping by and I did leave my LO as it was. Your new room looks delightful. BJ #46
ReplyDeleteGreat story about being late...I can so relate to that now days. Like the looks of the new paint job, walls, and furniture. I am hoping to get my room done in the next couple weeks too! Thanks for sharing and stopping by my blog. Vickie #38
ReplyDeleteLol! So funny! Bet the kids applauded when you got to the school! I love your craft space, it will look amazing. I see what you mean about there being a cleaning frenzy in WOYWW land!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments on my page.
Kyla #52
It's amazing how the white paint has unified the whole look of the room - you're going to have such fun putting everything back!!
ReplyDeleteYour story of being late fills me with heeby-jeebies..whenever I'm stressed, I have the 'being late for a band concert' dream.... *shivers*....it's a real nightmare!
Hugs, LLJ #72 xxxx
haha that is too funny about being late. Thanks for sharing, I needed that laugh. I cant wait to see the new revamped room
ReplyDeleteBridget #42
Oh so frazzling to have to rush! I have eliminated "run", "hurry", "dash" from my vocab.Love the look of the painted furniture.Guess it's good to paint it while the room is like this. Looking forward to seeing it when you've done!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see your craft room finished! You've done a fab job so far on the whitewash of the furniture. :)
ReplyDeleteDeeyll #128
How embarrassing about the school trip! I'm very late with my visiting this week - too busy making wedding stationery! Happy belated WOYWW.
ReplyDeleteBernice #8
Thanks for coming by to visit me! I've enjoyed the return visit here. You painted the perfect picture of the early morning phone call and your mortification! I can SO relate; I hate being late, too!
ReplyDeleteHow fun that you get your craft room back and it looks like a huge room and you'll have all that beautiful freshly painted furniture and you have fab paper storage racks ... can't wait to see it all put together! Enjoy! Darnell #53
OH no Tertia, I know exactly what you mean about not being late, I’m exactly the same and the trouble with getting a rude awakening when you’re relaxing like that is that it usually puts you out for the rest of the day. I hope you managed to enjoy the amusement park and had a good scream on all the rides.
ReplyDeleteYour new, ‘old’ furniture is looking great after its makeover and I’m sure that you’re going to be spending many happy hours in there with your crafty stash.
Happy Crafting!

Thanks for visiting me

I can feel your pain. I hate being late also. My ex-husband always made a point of being late, would drive me nuts. I'd even set all the clocks ahead just to get him somewhere close to on time. Your room will be lovely when finished, can't wait to see it. Thanks for visiting my blog. You are now entered in the drawing. Good Luck!
ReplyDeleteOh what a terrible start to your day ... glad you got there in the end and all was well. You must be itching to get everything on to your storage pieces - it will be lovely when finished - I look forward to seeing it. Thank you for visiting my blog and leaving me a comment. Hope you have a good week. Hazel, WOYWW #120 x
ReplyDeleteHi there and I too hate to be late - hope you enjoyed the day once you got there!!! I think your craft room is going to look super - I like the whitewashed furniture. I wish my room was more streamlined but part of it has to stay as a bedroom when my eldest son and family visit. Guess though I should just be happy with what I have. Thanks for visiting me, I have enjoyed reading some of your earlier posts. Anne x ~89
ReplyDeleteHi Tertia - I am late too this week! It must be catching. Thank you for popping to visit me. I look forward to seeing how you get on reclaiming your craft space. The whitewashed furniture is a great start and a great idea too. Belated WOYWW Hugs to you from Helen 18
ReplyDeleteFunny story! I taught Kindergarten for 30 and used to have field trip nightmares during which I would lose children. Luckily never lost anyone in real life! Thanks for stopping by. Barb
ReplyDeleteHave fun putting your craft space back together with the furniture all matching. It can be so disruptive to move out of your space (I did it earlier this summer) and so great to be back in business. :) Thanks for visiting my blog already. ~ Laura #124
ReplyDeleteIt's always exciting to redo an art/craft room. You find materials that you may have forgotten and/or you see them in a new light, so it regenerates your creative juices. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteOh what a panicky start to your day! I hate being late for things too so can empathise with how you must have been feeling! I hope you had a lovely day once your heart rate had come down! What a fun start to getting your craft room how you want it. Can't wait to see it all come together! A very belated happy WOYWW to you!
